Guitarist Artie Zaitz leads a Hammond organ-based combo paying homage to the Blue Note recordings of Grant Green, with organist Ross Stanley, drummer Steve Brown and percussionist Dave Pattman.
Paying homage to the early 60s Blue Note Hammond organ based recordings of guitarist Grant Green, guitarist Artie Zaitz leads a quartet of four of London’s most grooving, swinging musicians in an organ based band, playing his original blues-drenched tunes, as well as arrangements of Green and others. The line up features Hammond organist Ross Stanley performing on a real Hammond C3 organ, internationally renowned drummer Steve Brown in the Scott Hamilton quartet, and Dave Pattman on congas and percussion, who has performed extensively with many of the members of Buena Vista Social Club. Fresh from recording his debut album with this band, to be released later this year, Artie has quickly risen in prominence as a young guitarist of world-class ability, performing with a variety of established and up-and-coming talent, including several recent concerts at the South by Southwest Festival in Texas and as a member of the Moses Boyd collective. Support tonight comes from tenor saxophonist and clarinettist Mark Crooks and pianist Graham Harvey, who will be performing in the club’s restaurant during dinner before the main act, with food available from 6pm until 7.50pm.
