WINNER Brighton & Adelaide Fringe Awards 2018

NOMINEE Best Newcomer & Golden Gibbo, MICF 2018

Disgraced actor Garry Starr defies his critics by performing every genre of theatre known to man, thus saving the performing arts from inevitable extinction.

Starr tears through artistic genres with little regard for personal safety and even less regard for art.

Directed by Cal McCrystal
(Mighty Boosh, The Dictator, Paddington 1&2)

What the press say

“Damien Warren-Smith’s alter ego delivers a drama masterclass, leading us from clownish chaos to feats of comic genius” – The Guardian

“[An] uproariously funny hour” – The Scotsman

“Garry Starr is one of the most perfectly pitched comedy characters you’ll see at the Fringe this year.“ – Broadway Baby

“Garry Starr is electric and elastic, commanding the room with a relaxed intensity throughout a set that is carefully crafted and perfectly executed.” – Brighton and Hove News

“An anarchic play-date with a six-foot-two toddler with a mop of fuzzy hair, no inhibitions and far too much raspberry cordial on board. It’s an exhilarating feeling.” – GLAM Adelaide

“A master of clowning and comedy. Hilarious, naughty, clever and incredibly well put together.” – The Upside News

“Highly intelligent and fiercely honest” – Voice Mag

The Rosemary Branch is a small studio theatre situated on the borders of Hackney and Islington in London.

Last year marked the 15th anniversary of Cecilia and Cleo as Artistic Directors of the Rosemary Branch Theatre. Cecilia was a dance teacher in London schools before being invited by Christopher Gable to teach choreography at the Central School of Ballet. Cleo is a well-known actor who has worked at the National Theatre, appeared with the Young Vic on Broadway and made numerous TV appearances.
Together they have continued the tradition of presenting an eclectic mix of art and entertainment in what was once a Victorian music hall, and take pride in providing a safe and supportive place for emerging talent in all areas of theatre.
